From the firm’s creation, pro bono was a critical part of the work we do at Kingston Reid to help improve the lives of the more vulnerable members of our community. The firm is a signatory to the National Pro Bono Target and a member of Justice Connect.
The right to work is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and as a specialist workplace law firm, we are acutely aware of how work impacts on our entire community and touches on all our lives. Supporting workplaces in their fight for human and social rights is incredibly important to us.
We support requests for pro bono assistance from community and not-for-profit organisations requiring advice or representation in workplace matters. We also offer our skills to support the legal education, advocacy and public policy work of organisations involved in community development, law reform, human rights and issues of public interest. We provide community legal centres with advice, represent their clients, as well as backend support and guidance around navigating advice and representation.
Pro bono assistance is also provided in broader non-workplace human rights matters, where we have the relevant expertise. This is not limited to legal advice or representation, but includes a full range of legal work including drafting of documents, research, negotiations, legal policy reform and community legal education.
