Martin Watts


Martin’s practice is focused on providing pragmatic and commercial advice to his clients and resolving employment and industrial matters in a timely and practical way. He is regarded as a steady hand who harnesses his expertise and deep knowledge of the law to design commercial options and implement the best solutions for his clients.

Martin has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of employment and industrial law.  He also has deep knowledge of Federal and State discrimination laws, administrative law, regulatory compliance, privacy laws and work health & safety and environmental laws.

While having a significant advisory practice, Martin’s true passion lies in resolving disputes and assisting clients in the management of litigation. He is regarded for his ability to guide clients as they proactively and efficiently resolve disputes, with a focus on minimising costs and disruption to their businesses. For those disputes that cannot be resolved, Martin applies his extensive litigation expertise, coupled with his dedication to achieving the best possible results, to assist clients in presenting the best possible case and achieving a desirable outcome that is aligned with their brand and values.

Throughout his career, Martin has represented many clients in Courts and Tribunals in both the Federal and New South Wales jurisdictions, having appeared in countless unfair dismissal matters; post-employment restraint litigation proceedings; claims of adverse action; industrial disputes; discrimination claims; judicial review proceedings; applications for external review under privacy and freedom of information legislation; claims for equitable relief, and appellate work. This experience undoubtedly helps his clients feel comfortable that their matter is in safe hands.
